6 Surf Rules!

Remember the “6 Surf Rules” before you or your crew go surfing or swimming:

  1. Slip on a UV-shirt, Slop on the 30+ sunscreen, Slap on a hat … from the iconic and internationally recognised sun protection campaign prominent in Australia and New Zealand during the 1980s which we learnt when you were a Micro-nipper at Camps Bay Surf Lifesavers!
  2. Check with the on-guard lifesaver, parent or local surfers: is it safe, what are the conditions like – where are the rips, the rocks, the swimming flags? Remember to check the Flags at beaches that don’t have shark nets.
  3. Never surf or swim alone!
  4. Never have the surfboard between you and the ocean.
  5. Always wear a leash.
  6. Have fun!
