Remember the “6 Surf Rules” before you or your crew go surfing or swimming:
- Slip on a UV-shirt, Slop on the 30+ sunscreen, Slap on a hat … from the iconic and internationally recognised sun protection campaign prominent in Australia and New Zealand during the 1980s which we learnt when you were a Micro-nipper at Camps Bay Surf Lifesavers!
- Check with the on-guard lifesaver, parent or local surfers: is it safe, what are the conditions like – where are the rips, the rocks, the swimming flags? Remember to check the Flags at beaches that don’t have shark nets.
- Never surf or swim alone!
- Never have the surfboard between you and the ocean.
- Always wear a leash.
- Have fun!
